Unidentified Flying/Crashing Object

Took this picture at 6:39 AM – no idea what it was (meteor?), but it looked pretty spectacular through binoculars. It was visible for a good ten minutes before the Sun got too bright.

Update: I’ve uploaded the original pictures with exif data, including a zoomed-out version for perspective. 23-29 in the series are almost identical shots.

GPS coordinates, if it helps: 12.981133, 80.259994

  2. @Adikeshav – I wish I could! It just looked a lot brighter, and the twin trails were quite clearly defined. I have a 5 1/2 inch reflector but I couldn’t get it to the balcony in time! 🙁

I’ve updated the post with the original shots, take a look.

  3. Might be meteors…. If its burning Meteors falling, then few thoughts/Questions raising up…. it should be two because one meteors cannot have two tails. As the Renie said it was for long 10 mins. If its two, then both meteors are in different levels, else it will collide each other. And the tails are in different angle. BUT the object didn’t Collide or separate each other…. (now I am little doubted… Meteor OR not….). INVISIBLE UFO ….. OMG!!!!!

    Anyway Interesting shot…

  4. Two angels dancing the salsa?
Astronomy isn’t my forte so I wouldn’t know if it were two meteorites getting into a fight, or trying to outdo each other in reaching the Earth – but it’s a lovely shot.
